Now This is a Storm

When the weather is quiet locally I find myself glued to the radar watching supercells in the plains this time of year. Here’s a phenomenal looking storm from earlier this evening in rural Cherry County, Nebraska.

The monster hail spike/three body scatter spike downradial of the hail core is something to behold. Baseball size hail was falling from this storm at the time. The storm didn’t go tornadic – probably thanks to somewhat marginal low level shear and the fact that the storm became “outflow dominant” pretty quickly.
